Land in Appalachian Mountains Wanted -
I want to live in the mountains but I do not have much money, but I am really smart. I know this because I have several very expensive pieces of paper from very prestigious institutions that I spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on for them to tell me that. I am a 40 year old generation X'er that bought into every thing I was spoon fed throughout my education/indoctrination. I became consumed with pursuing the trinkets and bobbles of the marketplace and never knew what was really essential to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I think the spirit of the people on this site exemplify the type of lifestyle I want.
I am looking for unrestricted land because I plan on homesteading it. This would include farming, animals, treating water, and electron production.
I would like at least 5 acres, but I notice that most mountain land is going for about $3000 an acre. I only have about $4500 I can get together.
With that said I am a very hard worker and fun to share stories with.
Please respond with ANY ideas you may have.

This is a 12 hour introduction providing an overview of permaculture.
There is a land dearth for farms in our region.
Along with donating time and proceeds to local sites in need,
the We Are All Farmers Permaculture Institute recently became donating members
of the National Young Farmers Coalition and
started the Facebook group Appalachian & Piedmont New and Young Farmers (APNY)
The goal of APNY is to support new and young farmer training, mentoring,
and land issues in particular, with a focus on NC, WV, VA, and SC along highways 77 and 81,
often a desert when it comes to organizational support mostly located in the capital areas or
wealthier areas of these 4 states. The group also welcomes people seeking new or young farmers for
their land.

looking for farmable land in NC
Hi,
I'm a farmer currently living in Rhode Island. I'm grew up in NC and would be interested in coming back to NC.
I'm a total greenhorn but have been getting really excited lately about soil amendments
and being a good steward to the land. If your interested I could send you pictures of the farm
that I have out here.
I'm interested in a three to five year lease.
Ideally their would be water, a greenhouse/i could build one, well draining soil, and relatively flat.
If you know of anything feel free to email me at hendall.loeffler@gmail.com
