While basil is primarily known as a culinary spice, it's also good for heart and stomach health. It is loaded with antioxidants and flavonoids and contains beta carotene, magnesium and vitamin K, amongst other vitamins and minerals in significant amounts.
It can be infused with other complimentary herbs (such as lemon balm or mint) or brewed as a "stand alone" tea with a squeeze of lemon and a touch of honey or stevia.
- 1oz of dried basil
- 1 quart of water
- bring the herb and water to a boil and remove from heat
- steep (covered) for at least one hour or let stand overnight
