Camomile is an herb of the astercae family with a very long history of use. Traces of camomile have been found in ancient egyptian tombs and can be found mentioned in ancient hieroglyphic texts. Camomiles have been used for centuries in teas as a mild, relaxing sleep aid, treatment for fevers, colds, stomach ailments, and as an anti-inflammatory, to name only a few of its therapeutic uses. Extensive scientific research has confirmed many of the traditional uses therapeutic activity.

In addition to medicinal use, chamomiles enjoy wide usage as a refreshing beverage to the tune of over one million cups of chamomile tea a day being ingested worldwide. While we grow both German and Roman types here on the farm, the prolific flowering of our german camomile is the type that we harvest and sell in its dry tea form. This is also the most popular type of camomile for tea consumption is our culture.
