Marigold Seed Mix

$1.50

2g packet

This is a broad mix of marigolds in hues of orange, yellow, red and burgundy that we surround our market garden with, thwarting garden pests by attracting a wide variety of beneficial insects that prey on bad bugs. At the end of the season we chop the marigolds down, leaving the roots in tact to fight soil nematodes. They are also good companion plants for many garden plants, including tomatoes, eggplant, chili pepper, and potatoes.

Marigolds are a low maintenance plant easily grown from seed and will fill the garden with cheerful color until the frosts of fall.

Sow in full sun directly after last frost, 1/8" deep, 1-4" apart. Water thoroughly. Seeds usually germinate within 4 to 14 days in 70F. Thin to 8-14" apart after seedlings have sprouted. Marigolds can also be started indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost date under grow lights for transplanting outdoors after last frost. Flowers will bloom in approximately 8-10 weeks.

If planting as companion plant / pest control, it is best to do so before food crops are in the ground!
