We had a full day of rain a couple days ago, the island garden beds held their own against it.

The bridge to the gords was washed down stream about 20ft so I pulled the main bridge up. Water was flowing over it at the time.

This is the one place the water breached one of the beds.

After the water subsided I found the channel furthest from the house was completely clogged with pebbles and silt. This is the mint pool. Full off debris.

another spot that acted as a silt trap - the water in the other channel was still raging at this point.

This is the fork in the stream at the top of the island. The left channel was totally shut off with pebbles and silt deposited there by the floods. I re dug and widened the entire left channel yesterday after taking these photos.

Peppers 1st trip back on the hill went really good. She's been off the rope since then and she's responding when we call her better than when she was tied up.

Found a bathtub in one of the run off creeks near the location for our 2nd dam.

and what appears to be an old cow watering device

Added lower walls to the composting palette greenhouse.

Next step is adding 4 foot extension boards on the compost wall so that the roof will angle from roughly 8 ft on the compost side to 4ft on the south side.

Then we'll cover the whole thing with plastic, including the compost.

Last night we got about 7 inches of snow. Later today it's suppose to start raining... for 24 hours... that's why I had to re dig the channel yesterday.

This is the mint pool now.

I widened the left channel to accommodate more water an debris. Our 1st dam project has been held up by weather and injury. Probably have it completed in 2 more afternoons of work. Just waiting for things to dry up some .. hope that happens ;~)

Pepper is loving the snow and the freedom of the doggy door in the garage.

And we're loving the freedom of not having to constantly unwrap her rope from around the various trees an shit that she would be tangled up in.

happy free dog
