no time for wasting

no time for wasting

i have spent days at the computer, researching how to grow all the cultivars from seed that we have ordered for our perennial and annual garden. H tends to be a "doer" and i counter that with being a "thinker". H dives in, i research. we tend to balance each other out that way... but after days and days, of compiling research, and a list of over 100 cultivars to "learn" about, i have decided my partner "knows best".

farming is decidedly "doing," and thereby learning. granted the interwebs are full of information, but so much information can be disconcerting at times. conflicting "expertise" abounds, and i've decided that, while following rules and "do's and don'ts" might save a little bit of hard learned experience, it might also prove to be counter-productive to innovations. i made it through the "A" cultivars after a week's time and while i learned a lot, i've decided to keep that file as a draft and just dig in, quite literally.

long story short, i have to decided to put aside my computer, and rely upon this lovely little calendar from west virginia university's extension office to guide my "hands on" experience in getting our garden up and going.

check it out. it's an awesome publication, chock full of great information. whether you're new or old to farming & gardening, i bet you'll find it a useful tool to have around.

Looks like a great calendar to go by. Good luck.
