It's wine transfer day! We've got a 1 gallon batch of apple wine and a 6 gallon batch of Blackberry.
Another quick pictorial update.

today we transferred the apple from the white bucket to the jugs and decanted the blackberry from the jug to the white bucket collected the sludge in a separate jar and put the clear stuff back into the glass jug. January 17th we can bottle these batches.

W pruned back this tree that was bangin' into the roof of the cellar house. We've also used up our 300 gallon rain water catchment on watering the barley & oats we're cover cropping with.

So I took a tractor ride back to the old fallin' barn to collect large logs for a winter construction project. ... I got one strapped on to the tractor but due to the muddy frozen/thawed clay roads was not able to get the log outa the holler. It was a real eye opener about what work was going to be feasible over the winter months. I was, however, able to get that big bag'o black walnuts outa the holler. ;~)

We got the bottom of the crib cleaned out to make room for the tractor this winter. We lowered the 2 wall jacks on the side that was repaired this summer.. just a little bit. We had to remove the jack in the middle of the door. I had hoped to do a lot of work with the tractor this winter but I've been told about the mud/road situation in winter and have now seen it in person. We'll be walking the hills this winter, unless it's a super freaky warm dry winter. We've also begun setting up the lower crib as our veggie oil station.

I've begun making improvements on our composting station by incorporating it into our future green house. detailed research

The plastic lined panels are just laying there. 3 of those will become the roof of the greenhouse.

By lining the north side of the greenhouse with our compost and dry matter the compost should help heat the greenhouse at night and the greenhouse should help heat the compost during the day.
